Ida is an 8 year old girl that came to our rescue as an owner surrender. She was bought as a puppy from a breeder out west that mainly bred working dogs. Don’t let her age fool you – she has lots of energy for an older girl and loves to be active and participate in anything you might be doing. She would excel in obedience, search and rescue or scent work or anything that keeps her mind busy. She likes to play and rough house with other dogs but she can be a bit over the top with her exuberance which might put some dogs off. She would do best as an only dog at this time. She is housebroken and loves her stuffed animals – she even came with the same stuffed animal she had since she was a puppy. She is not fond of the crate and will protest for a short time and then will settle down and sleep. She is not good with cats or livestock so she will need a home without things to chase that would get her into trouble. In addition, she would not be appropriate for children. Ida is not a starter dog. She is very smart and confident but can also be pushy and insistent. If you don’t spend the time to train her, she will want to train you. She will need her next home to have previous doberman and dog training experience (any applications without prior experience will not be entertained) and she will also require training after adoption to ensure success.
